I truly want Junior High Physical Education to be enjoyable, educational and productive. One thing I always stress in class is that honest hard work is always rewarded. Our physical education program is dedicated to helping children live life to the fullest, be participants rather then spectators and to maintain enthusiasm each and every day.
Objectives:
1. To develop and utilize a sense of sportsmanship.
2. To gain a knowledge base of various sports and lifetime activities with a desire to participate.
3. To develop a good work ethic which will continue into all aspects of life.
4. To make students aware of the term accountability. What students do or do not do will have an impact on their grade.
5. To have fun while staying fit!
Units covered: football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, mat ball, badminton, weightlifting/conditioning, circuit training and ultimate frisbee.
Grading will be based on a 30 point daily participation grade, which will include proper gym clothes, full participation and attitude. The students will also be given pre and post physical fitness assessment tests which will include: continuous push-ups, sit-ups, pacer running, standing long jump, sit and reach flexibility and pull-ups. These tests will assess the five components of physical fitness.
Students will be expected to follow directions, respect each other and give maximum effort in class.
